Protect cardholder data
Verifying that your customer is the actual cardholder is a critical first step in fraud mitigation. Elavon was among the first processors to launch EMV (chip) card authentication when it was introduced in 2015, and this card-present technique remains an essential part of our secure approach to payments.

Protect card data as it moves across your business to our secure data center. Our point-to-point encryption (P2PE) technology masks the data to minimize exposure in the event of a breach.

Our payments security solutions include encryption and tokenization to protect card data both “in transit” and “at rest.” Our point-of-sale terminals feature hardware-based, tamper resistant security modules. When a payment card is swiped or inserted (dipped), encryption protects the card data as it travels across various systems and networks until it is decrypted at our secure data center. Tokenization replaces cardholder data with a unique token ID – that removes it from the processing environment – for use in subsequent transactions. Sensitive information is inaccessible should a breach occur.
